Over 25 years experience

I wanted to be a hairdresser for as long as I can remember. From around the age of 5 or 6, I used to comb and play with my parents hair spraying it with water as they sat on the floor, me on the sofa watching TV, chatting away as if we were in a salon. It’s all I ever wanted to do. Even now after working in the hair industry for 25 years, I am still loving it today!
Heather Barberella has always been a dream of mine. After working in salons in the UK and Australia it was time to venture out and start to live my dream. In March 2019 HB was born and it has been an amazing ride so far.

Heather Barberella is situated in Darlinghurst, just a few doors up from the iconic East Village Sydney. Known in the late 1920’s as the area of ‘Razor Gang Wars’.

Offering haircuts, beard trims, facials, grey away colour and face shaves, I find it’s important for men to feel and look their best.

Consultation is key when catering to what the client wants, communication is the most important part of hairdressing, so I am always listening. At Heather Barberella I like to offer a relaxing and comfortable professional space for clients to feel at ease, always.

For the past 5 years I have worked with the amazing charity Short Back and Sidewalks. SBSW is a not for profit charity, offering haircuts to people in need, free of charge and free of judgement.

Local hairdressers and barbers get together give amazing haircuts and make people feel fresh and pampered. For most of us this is just part of our normal life, we all have a haircut. Unfortunately for some this is a luxury and some people find it difficult to afford. That’s where we step in. We work with local shelters or on the streets, sometimes collaborating with other not for profit charities like Orange Sky who provide washing facilities to those in need. We have also worked with the amazing Garma Festival of Traditional Cultures in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, cutting hair for the Yolngu people. Having that interaction and connection with people when cutting hair is one of the most rewarding things about what we do as hairdressers/barbers.

Giving a great haircut to someone, makes people feel great. It gives confidence and lifts self esteem. That’s what’s great about hairdressing, whether it be on the streets or in the salon, it puts a smile on someone’s face. We have a chat and relax and make people feel and look their best!

It’s important to listen to what the client wants. To make sure the outcome is perfection!
